CS Fair 2020 REGISTER AND APPLY here https://csfairnyc.vfairs.com/TO DOCUMENT STUDENT LEARNING AND REFLECTIONUSE WBL RECORD FORM We are delighted to invite all BASE students and community to the NYC CS Fair ! For the first time ever, the fair will take place in a germ free, entirely remote environment! Thank goodness for computer scientists. Logistics: When? This year the fair will take place over the span of November 18th. Where? The fair will take place virtually within the vFairs platform. Students will be able to access the fair from any device, and from most browsers as long as they are using the most up to date version. However, we do recommend using Chrome as your browser for the best experience. It is also recommended to make sure your computer has the latest OS update and that any firewalls are disabled. A steady Internet connection will also need to be available, with a recommended minimum broadband connection of 8 mbps. What: There will be an Exhibit Hall with booths and an Auditorium with sessions. Additionally, there are several competitions (with prizes!) that students are able to submit entries for this year. More details will be released to registered teachers ahead of the fair. How many students can I bring? As promised in the spring, we have reserved 30 spots for your class. Each teacher that registers for the fair can bring up to 30 students. If there are additional students from your school who you would like to bring, you will need to identify another teacher to complete the registration process and do the pre-work with the additional students. This teacher will also serve as their virtual chaperone at the fair. We hope to accommodate as many students from your school as you would like to bring. Registration: Please register at www.csfairnyc.vfairs.com by October 30th. You will need to enter your school DBN (District Borough Number, e.g. 01M123). Once registered you will receive communications from production@csfair.nyc about your confirmed date and the necessary pre-work you need to complete with your students. What’s new/different now that the CS Fair will be virtual? Students will be able to participate in both a scavenger hunt and a “points” game with prizes. Students can participate in competitions with prizes. There will be a pre-CS Fair worksheet to help your students plan their experience ahead of time. You will have the ability to gather materials during and 30 days after the CS Fair, including accessing all of the on-demand Auditorium sessions. Please feel free to reach out with questions before registering: production@csfair.nyc. Best,CS Fair Team
